There seems to be so many issues across the world that are fighting for our attention. In the midst of a world that appears to be spiralling out of control on many fronts, to Plant a Garden is to care for what remains and to bring beauty and order to that which is in our control.
This designed is based off of Kyle's song Plant a Garden which explores the idea that instead of worrying about all the things that are beyond our control… maybe the best thing we can contribute to the world is to simply care and tend for the small square footage beneath our feet; to plant flowers, to tend a garden, and to care for our neighbourhood. The song proposes the idea: “when there’s chaos around us, we should care from the ground up, and keep growing beautiful things”.

lyrics
When the school burnt down, and the factory closed
When all the lights went out, it was the final blow
And how are we supposed to move on?
How do we read the signs?
Yeah, it’s hard enough growing up, in these modern times
Hope deferred would make the best of us sick
I ask if you’re okay, you say “I am getting used to it”
Used to have visions of being something
But now you close your eyes and just see nothing
Just trying to get by, growing up in these modern times
You don’t see it now, but maybe down the road
This will all make sense, maybe then we’ll know
Why did things have to fall apart?
Under the weight of gravity
Now I’m blinded by the darkness
Open my eyes to see
Hope deferred would make the best of us sick
I ask if you’re okay, you say “I am getting used to it”
Used to have visions of being something
But now you close your eyes and just see nothing
Just trying to get by, growing up in these modern
Time - it’s all we have, it’s all we’ll ever know
Time - is like a thread, unravelling so
I will not forget
To make the most of what we have
What sunlight’s left
